The Formacs SERIES Total Organic Carbon (TOC) and Total Nitrogen (TN) analyzers have been designed to measure TOC and TN separately or simultaneously in liquid samples.

The flexible design ensures optimal performance and is operational within minutes, providing accurate analyses for Total Carbon (TC), Total Inorganic Carbon (TIC), TOC, Non-Purgeable Organic Carbon (NPOC), and TN. As an additional option, the concentration of Nitrate and Nitrite (NN) can be measured which results in a true alternative to the Total Kjeldahl Nitrogen (TKN) method (TKN = TN – NN). This eliminates the need for hazardous reagents, which are required for the conventional TKN analysis. In this way, valuable operator time is saved and better precision is achieved.

The user-friendly analyzers allow quick and easy access to all components and include a versatile software package for complete instrument control, data acquisition, calculations, and report generation.

  • Skalar - TOC & TN Analyzer for Solid & Liquid Sample - Primacs Series

Skalar – TOC & TN Analyzer for Solid & Liquid Sample – Primacs Series

The PrimacsSERIES provides fast, reliable, accurate, and low-level analysis of Total Nitrogen / Protein, Total Carbon, Total Organic Carbon, Total Elemental Carbon, and Total Inorganic Carbon all in one unit.

The PrimacsSERIES provides fast, reliable, accurate, and low-level analysis of Total Nitrogen / Protein, Total Carbon, Total Organic Carbon, Total Elemental Carbon, and Total Inorganic Carbon all in one unit.

The measurement of TC, TOC, TEC, and TIC is based on high-temperature catalytic combustion with Non-Dispersive Infrared detection (NDIR). The temperature settings are variable and a special temperature ramping program allows the analysis of TEC, according to DIN 19539. The TN/Protein analysis is based upon DUMAS methodology and detection with Thermal Conductivity (TCD). TIC can also be determined separately using automatic acidification and purging. All systems come with a practical and flexible software package, with pre-installed method files, user-definable sample table set up, integrated QC features, etc.

The analyzer contains a large integrated 100 position autosampler with a unique vertical sample introduction system. The sample ashes remain in the crucible after the analysis and are taken out to the instrument with the removal of the crucible. This avoids sample ash build-up in the combustion zone and therefore reduces maintenance.

Laboratory and industrial production process control requires a fast and accurate analysis of sample to allow optimum operating conditions to be set and maintained. This can apply equally to food and beverage production, pharmaceutical products or biopharmaceutical manufacturing systems for both cell culture and microbial applications. The speed and flexibility of our enzymatic laboratory analysers makes them ideal for quality control purposes. A printed result is obtained typically within 20 – 25 seconds from sample injection. New analytical assays are continually being developed; for example measurement of methanol from dimethyl dicarbonate (DMDC) preservation of juices and other beverages but also NAD and NADH for industrial control purposes.

Boost Efficiency of Your Current Compound ID

The new Spectra Analysis DiscovIR System is the perfect solution when identifying the components in a complex mixture. Infrared spectroscopy provides each compound’s unique fingerprint, making it quick and easy to identify each peak by comparison to the extensive solid phase IR libraries. The DiscovIR system is particularly useful in identifying structural isomers, which can be a challenging area for Mass Spectrometry.

    Micro-deposition Improves Analysis

DiscovIR’s unique temperature controlled, vacuum deposition method ensures that results are accurate and reproducible. Eluted peaks are first deposited in a film onto a rotating IR-transparent disc. The disk rotates the concentrated spot into the infrared beam and the spectrum is collected.

Drug exhibits have become more challenging over the years due to an increase in complex synthetic substances with many positional isomer and diastereomer possibilities. With the DiscovIR-GC® from Spectra Analysis Instruments, forensic and law enforcement labs can now easily and rapidly identify designer drugs, by-products, and cutting agents with a higher level of specificity and discrimination which is unattainable through mass spectrometry alone.

    Key Applications

    • Controlled substances
    • Amphetamines
    • Diastereomers
    • Ephedrine/pseudoephedrine
    • Trace analysis
    • Fentanyl analogs
    • Cathinones
    • Phenethylamines

    Micro-deposition Improves Analysis

DiscovIR’s unique temperature controlled, vacuum deposition method ensures that results are accurate and reproducible. Eluted peaks are first deposited in a film on to a rotating IR transparent disc. Next, an infrared beam passes through each concentrated spot and the detector automatically collects spectral data.

    Concentrates Analytes In Minimal Area

Cryogenic temperature control of the Sample Disc minimizes the area of the deposited analyte. This results in a thicker sample layer and therefore Higher Sensitivity of the absorbance spectrum.

New DiscovIR-LCTM system from Spectra Analysis is able to afford total solvent removal from a reversed-phase gradient run (2% to 100% organic) with no change in the operational setpoints of the system. Solid phase Transmission FTIR Spectra are acquired continuously throughout the run.

    The Naica® System

Get absolute quantification of multiple genetic targets in a single run

Digital PCR (dPCR) is a powerful tool used for the precise and highly sensitive quantification of nucleic acids.

The naica® system is an easy-to-use dPCR platform that harnesses cutting-edge microfluidic technology to integrate the dPCR workflow onto a single consumable chip. The technology, known as Crystal Digital PCR™, partitions samples into a large array of thousands of individual droplet crystals – each its own reaction compartment – before amplifying nucleic acid molecules in each droplet crystal. These reactions are tagged with fluorophores to be read using up to six different fluorescence light channels.

This makes for a fast and simple workflow that provides even more sensitivity while reducing time to results and saving precious sample.

Heating microscopy is a non-contact technique that, based upon an advanced image analysis of a specimen subjected to a thermal treatment reproducing industrial firing conditions, identifies several characteristic shapes and related temperatures key to the optimization of manufacturing processes in ceramics, metals, and alloys.

The characteristic temperatures the system can automatically identify include the beginning of sintering, softening, sphere, half-sphere, and melting/fusion. Morphometrix, the latest TA Instruments image analysis software, can also determine the following: flattening curve, contact angle curve, sample area variation curve, ratio curve between width and height, bloating effects, combustion, theoretical glass viscosity (V.F.T. equation) and surface tension (glasses) using the Young-Laplace equation.

Dilatometry measures the change in size of a sample as a function of temperature. In addition to directly determining the thermal expansion of the sample, the change in size also provides information about phase transitions and physical or chemical changes in the microstructure. These can be identified by the associated changes in density and rate of expansion of the material. Dilatometry is also an extremely useful method for evaluating the sintering behavior of materials, as it records both the shrinkage of a sintered sample and the temperatures required to achieve this change. This analysis allows optimization of workpiece shapes and processing temperatures, improvement of product quality and reduction of costs.

Isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC) is a high-resolution method for complete characterization of the basic chemical details of a binding interaction. The method determines a binding constant, reaction stoichiometry, and total reaction energy of two or more compounds (small or large molecules) in solution. Isothermal titration calorimeters do this by measuring the heat that is released or absorbed when molecules interact with each other. Temperature conditions can be controlled to understand the temperature dependence of binding.
